Artist Inspiration For Moo Designs Project.

Artist Research

I have researched into artist's/designers that have collections that remind me of the sea, this might not be obvious to other people but it is the research i have done and i see these as visuals of what i think a fashion collection based on under the sea and invertebrate sea creatures would look like.

The sheet above is the first sheet i did on artist research, this sheet is not an in detail research sheet. It just includes pictures of a few designers collections that inspire me. This was mainly to inspire me in my work. Designer on this sheet consist of' Alexander Mcqueen, Mary katrantzou, Chanel and Peter Pilotto.

The sheet above is my research sheet on Jonathan Saunders spring summer 13 collection at the London Fashion week. This might not scream out invertebrate sea creatures or sea to everyone else, but my attention to detail and keen eye tell me that it does. The iridescent colours used reminds me of the shimmer in the ocean. Also the coral skirt can be related to the corals in the sea.

This sheet i have created is inspired by Cleo Ferin Mercury's Collar's and Scarves. This sheet is more obviously inspired by the sea and the invertebrate sea creatures. This sheet supports my mood boards and visual sheets more as the pink shells are a theme through out my work in this project. The colours in this sheet are really beautiful but as the brief states my samples only have to be monochrome and one contrasting colour. I am really happy with this sheet.

The last sheet of artist research i have created is Chanel spring summer 12. The fabric, colours, fabric manipulation , everything about this collection is beautiful, its elegant yet still on trend. The thing i am drawn to most in this collection is the iridescence, it reminds me of the shimmer on a clear sea. I used pastel colour gouache and brusho for the background to create a soft base for the pictures of this colletion. This is by far my favourite artist research sheet.

Whats next?

I will do a blog post on my development sheets. Watch out next week for daily posts as i will be spending most days in the print room to create my samples which i will then be presenting to moo designs.

Thanks for reading.
