To try and recreate this was very hard, as there are many colours and different shapes. I did not want my final print to be too busy or too empty and because my final piece is to be a meter of wallpaper i wanted it to repeat both ways. After planning my print, so it repeats both ways i started planning my screens. As every colour needs its own screen. To do this i had to create a tracing for each screen, so there will be a screen for the black, pink, yellow and orange (i decided to not include the purple as it would take up too much time to do my samples with 5 screens.) Here are the different layers of tracing paper ready to expose my screen with.
This is my first tracing which i will print first, i will use the outline colour for this, which will be black or another dark colour, although i will use and experiment with different colours.
When all the tracings are layered on top of each other it makes up my final print, which are now ready to be exposed onto screens...
When the print technician exposed my screens, we had a problem with my first screen (the outline screen) the first time we exposed it, it left lines through my screen so when i printed it looked poor quality, so we exposed it again and this time it did not work as most of the lines that were thin did not expose. The third time we exposed it, it finally worked, and when printed it looked very good quality.
From my sketchbook, mood boards, visual and development sheets i chose the colours i used the most and researched which rooms the colours would look best in, what the colour represents and what mood the colour sets. This helped me decide which room i want my wallpaper to be based in. Although this could change after iv done my samples and experimented with backgrounds and colours.
