Super Journal: The 1960's

If you read one of my previous posts about one of the many summer projects I have been set you will know I am doing a super journal over the summer. ( You can find the blog post by clicking HERE.) A super journal is like a journal a design student would normally keep, however it goes into more detail and really pushes the research boundaries.
After about a month of thinking of themes and topics to cover in my super journal I have finally thought of a solution! At first I was going to base my journal on street art, Looking into the different styles and how different cultures and cites differ in their street art but I decided not to as I thought the subject weren't as broad as I would like to work from, I don't like feeling isolated within my work!

After weeks of feeling unmotivated and frustrated with it all, One night it hit me like a brick! I would base it on an era and explore many different topics that interest me from that era, I had finally found something to keep me entertained for the summer!

The 1960's is the era I am basing my super journal on, I will research into fashion, trends, icons, designers, music, lifestyle, the positivity and creative outcomes of weed and LSD and much more. I have not set any boundaries for my self as I want to see where my research will take me and how it will influence my own practice when I get back into university in September.

First mind map in super journal
To make a start in my super journal I creative this mind map (above) to give me starting points for research. Obviously a lot of things happened in the decade I am looking into and therefore will be picking out bits of personal interest to research into, These could be certain fashion icons, designers, musicians etc... But will all be based in the 60's.

I will be updating my blog regularly with updates and developments on this project.
