So for every project I have done in my second year of college, I have roughly had an idea of what i would like to create for my final piece or at least for my samples, but for this project i literally have no idea, I am going to just see where the inspiration and my imagination takes me.... rather exciting! I started my research for this project by gathering photo's from Pinterest of marine invertebrate sea creatures as stated by the brief this should be our biggest focus for research and inspiration. The pictures i looked at were breathtaking, Its amazing to think that under all that water is something so beautiful, its like another world. The amount of inspiration i got from the pictures i found online was amazing, the colours, textures and shapes are phenomenal. I created a mood board with the pictures that inspired me the most aswell as having beautiful patterns that i can develop.
The next mood board i created is a basic mood board inspired byavant garde garments.
I learnt whilst researching avant garde fashion that it basically means 'one-off' 'masterpieces'. This gave me motivation with my project as my print would need to be just that! Avant garde garments and fashion often seem to be very sculptured and geometrical and they dont often have busy prints on them, although they are often very layered and feature techniques like fabric manipulation.
The third and final mood board i created was focusing on fabric manipulation and embellishment as i would need inspiration for if i decided to use it later on in my project. This mood board consists of pictures i found interesting and inspiring, I also used sequins to decorate with.
In conclusion i am happy with the mood boards i have produced and i would say they are a good foundation to start my project on. My next task is my visual sheets and my sketchbook which is on going through out the project.
