Dear Massimo Iacoboni at Print Source New York,
I am writing to register to attend the Print Source trade fair in new york on the 12-13th February 2015.
My name is Becca O'loughlin and my co worker's name is Grace Thompson, We both work as part of Mary Katrantzou's team and would like to attend the Print Source trade fair to gather new, fresh and innovative print inspiration to take forward and develop into a Mary Katrantzou collection. Here are some travel details to insure our place at your trade fair; We shall be staying at the Gershwin Hotel which is approximately 0.5 miles from the Metropolitan Pavilion and cost £240 ($385.69) in which the Print Source trade fair will be held. Our flights from London (where Mary Katrantzou is based) Heathrow airport depart at 6.50am on the 11th of February for a 1hr 5min short journey to brussels for a stop off (plane change required) for 1hr 25min, The second part of our journey will then begin as we depart from brussels at 10.20am for a 8hr 45min journey to land in New York at 1.05pm on the 11th of February with plenty of time to explore New York before heading to the Print Source Trade Fair on the 12th. Our flight back is at 4.30pm on the 14th of February. With the trade fair being free admission and the hotel only being 0.5mile away from the venue (15min walk or 7min taxi) saving money on these have given us the ability to stay over a little longer than the trade fair to explore the city and find inspiration in its beauty. After researching into what the trade fair and new york has to offer we have wrote what events we are most interested in and what else we might get up to in New York on our visit.
Printsource hosts a Future Café which is a global overview of fashion and home textile trends by the world’s leading forecast services. Key speakers have included Pantone, Peclers, Promostyl, Trend House, Cotton Inc. etc. For example, Laurie Pressman of Pantone will be speaking at several seminars on the 13/01/2015.
The Future Café provides an overview of the season's colour direction and main trends. The seminars are offered to fashion designers and merchandisers, product developers, design directors and merchandise managers.
Printsource is the key resource for America’s most successful manufacturers, retailers and catalogues looking for future surface and textile design trends. It includes collections for apparel, home textiles and paper goods. This makes it a crucial trade show to visit as the research gathered would be needed to make sure our designs for S/S 2016 are successful.
New York is also one of the main fashion capitols in the world. We would like to make the most of our visit by observing current street trends around New York and we would also visit some relevant shops in order to get an idea of what our competitors are selling and what is selling well etc. One example is the department store Barneys, which is unique to New York and so it would be a good opportunity to visit.
Thank you very much for your time.
