Hey everyone, Getting stuck into my first independent project at uni was not hard at all. In fact if anything I had missed it. It's been some while since I was looking for inspiration for a project, producing mood boards and sketchbooks. I would not even call it 'homework' anymore, It's something I truly love and hopefully one day will be my career. I thought I would share with you the begin of my project, My inspiration.
The project I am currently doing in this module (professional practice) is based on anthropologie , The project brief states that I have to create a research journal, a trend/mood board, a market board and a final board including a final fabric with two colour ways. This fabric will be for a garment or accessory sold in anthropologie. (It won't really - Its just a project) I will have to think of the product I would like to design, Consider the brand anthropologie and their customers, consider fabrics and its qualities and what it is used for. I will also doing market analysis and competitor research.
After reading the project brief of 'Everyday Utopias' It got me thinking, What is my everyday utopia, My little escape from reality and it occurred to me that my main two escapes are very different and I thought it would make a very interesting project to combine them together. My two escapes are going on nature walks, If thats to take pictures or just enjoy the nature or even just to feed the ducks, It's my favourite thing to do to escape reality and forget about everything. My second escape is rather different and might even be the same as yours, It's the internet, From blogging to internet shopping or watching youtube videos, It's my favourite thing to do and it's also my everyday utopia. Using the internet as a topic I decided to look specifically at glitch and photoshopped images.
To gather photo's for my inspiration I use Pinterest, Which is amazing because I always use the secret boards for premature project idea's.

This first page is based on nature. Tree's, Landscapes, Flowers and Mushrooms. I found the most beautiful pictures on Pinterest for my secondary research. Below is a close up of the annotations on this page. (My thought process)
It is so important on annotating your thought process through out any project (but thats a whole other blog post). As you can read from my annotations, These pages have gave me inspiration to go on a micro adventure my self and take lot's of pictures and note down smells and textures, This will be for my primary research. You can also see that I have written that I will be focusing on digital design and screen print for this project. So I can put my newly learnt photoshop skills at the test.
You can see my photoshop posts here;
Learning Photoshop
The internet, Tumblr and Pinterest have all been a big inspiration for me, I decided I would incorporate this into my work by using photoshopped/glitched and distorted images. To develop my own style and primary work for this project, I will use my primary research based on nature (my own photographs) and photoshop and glitch them to look amazing. I will then use them as inspiration in CAD and create my self a digital print.
I am really loving this project and I have missed being creative and doing projects.
