Creative Business Cards Completed!

Things are finally starting to come together, As the hand in date is tomorrow as you can imagine things are getting a little stressful and heated but trying to think positive and stay calm is the best thing to do. If you read my blog you know for my creative business cards I created some needle felted cells to relate to my theme. This morning I have finally finished them, I decided to buy some labels with string attached to them and hand write my information on the tags, I think this gives the creative business cards a more personal touch to them.

All in all I have created 13 of these business cards as the minimum was 10. Personally I do think I should have done more but managing my time and prioritizing was what made me stop at 13, I can always do more if I run out of them. I really like these business cards and I think they are very unique. I am proud of what I have created.

Corporate Business Cards - Completed!

My first blog post since I got back from my holiday! This morning I completed my corporate business card's. After creating a few designs I took inspiration from the research I did. I decided to create my business card's double sided as I wanted to incorporate some pictures I taken my self onto my business card's, To do this and make it look professional I thought it would look better if I used the pictures as backgrounds. 

As you can see I used white box's with a thick black outline to keep my information in, I used different pictures for the front and back. Keeping my name and title on the front and my information on the back to keep things spread out and giving it a professional look.

Here are my final business card's I used the spray mount to stick them together as glue and double sided wouldn't leave a very professional look. 

I hope you like my business card's I created for my exhibition. I am very happy with them and I am glad that they are finally done.

The Textiles Of Science - Creative Business Card's

As I said in a previous blog post, I have been designing my business card's both corporate and creative. As I said I was to use acetate for my create business card to layer it up I did sample this and the ink seemed to smudge on the acetate and even though I could spray with glue I could easily spray with glue to stop this issue but I decided to go with something more textiles based. I've decided to needle felt my business card's in the shape of the cell which is in my tracing therefore will connect with my pattern on my scarf and the colour scheme too as I will be doing them light green and dark green. I have made a start on this and I am enjoying the outcome so far, I have produced 6 business card's in just under 2 hour, I am planning on producing 30 of these for my exhibition so this will take me 10 hour in total, although this is a long time I shall be breaking it up as I shall be doing these at home and using my time at college and days off at college to do my samples when my screens are exposed. I shall be doing my business card's at evening when I would normally be blogging this may mean I shall not be blogging as much as I need to get most things done before I jet off on holiday on Thursday morning. Using light green and dark green wool to needle felt these business card's. Your probably thinking where's your information? Well I have decided I shall print out my information on a small tag (big enough to read) and attaching it to my business card's. Business Card - Corporate and Creative.

During my time studying Textiles with Surface Design I have also being doing different unit's and one big part of my studies is the unit 10 which is professional practise, In this unit we keep a folder and use it to store paperwork to support the grading criteria and the contents which unit 10 holds. This include's uni course research, UCAS application and feedback, University Feedback, Grading, Peer assessments, Tutor feedback and paper work such as that as I am now nearing the end of my textiles course at Barnsley college I am now onto the final major project section of my professional practise folder, This is where I have looked into business card's so far, I have researched into both corporate business cards and creative business cards as I will be creating both. I have also annotated all the business card's I researched into so I could refer back and see what to avoid and what I'd like to include in my business card/s.

After looking into business cards and getting some inspiration the next thing for me to do was to look into some fonts and annotate them including what I like and dislike about them and why.

Now was the time to start creating some designs for my corporate and creative business card's, I did 2 A4 sized plain paper full of designs for my corporate designs here are the pictures...

 

The above are my first quick designs for my business card's, After looking at a few samples of previous student's business card's I decided to take some pictures of my favourite ones...

I liked the professional look on this business card and also its simplicity. 

The rounded corners really appealed to me on this one also the professional look and finish of it.

The acetate idea really gave me a good idea for my creative business card.

After looking at some sample business cards I had a better idea of what I would like to do and I decided I would like to send off my design for my corporate business card to a company such as vistaprint or something similar as my business card would look more professional but for my creative business card I would like to use acetate and create a cell shaped card, I shall have to sample this though and see if it would work. 

If anyone has any idea's on business cards which would help me as my business cards need to relate to my fmp work which is based on science, any feedback or help would be much appreciated.
